Meeting Minutes:

  • Introduction to Game Central & partners.
    •  Skill's Initiatives, Events, Resources on/offline, Long Term Presence.

       

  • Funding
    • Support for risk taking and innovation, to enable both big and small developers push innovation in ways they are currently unable to do so.
    • Looking at ways to 'plug into larger funds' and conduits into those.
    • Using regional funding to outreach to other international funds (similar to a film model)
    • Providing clear information on regional, national and international funds available.

  

  • Training
    • The need to do something different to other networks and what is currently provided (e.g. not just very technical skills training, but marketing and business)
    • PR & Marketing for small and indie developers on how to platform games within a crowded app/online market place.
    • Marketing - plugging into regional marketing courses and institutions for knowledge sharing. (chance for cross over with iPhone gamer camp?)
    • Understanding IP/ legal within games- (Alex Chapman offers help within this field).
    • QA/ play testing
    • Tax Credits, not just when once they're implemented but opening discussion and training sooner.

 

  • Network's target audience
    • Need to be clear on who the network is for.
    • How can the network be all things to all people across the whole range of the industry.

 

  • Events
    • Provide events for middle level staff
    • Not to simply copy what is already out there (e.g. conference style). Do something different and unique.
    • Location, need to create an 'in-diary' repeated event, but also need to ensure all regions of WM are catered for.
    • Show and tell sessions for network to present projects to other members, providing help with feedback and playtesting.

 

  • Miscellaneous
    • Creating a network mission statement to define and drive the vision.
    • Ensuring that there is a perceived value within the network from the region
